Sword Specifications:
This heavier sword weighs 2lbs. 9 oz. (3 lbs. w/ Saya) and has a 28.75 inch Nagasa with a 27.75 inch Cutting Edge. Nicely balanced with a slight forward weight, the sword has a fairly deep Sori of 7/8 inches. The Steel of the Blade is 1095 High Carbon Steel, folded repeatedly
to form an extremely active and very pleasing
Chu-Itame Hada and a Choji-like Hamon that is equally eye-catching.
This fine Blade is Forge-Folded using traditional Japanese sword-making techniques, including the particularly difficult
water-quenching process and clay-tempering. The Blade is also polished using traditional techniques.
The Tsuka, measuring 11 1/8 inches, has black dyed, secondary-cut panel wrap Same with High Quality Brown Leather Tsukaito
and Gendai Era (1859-1945) Cast Mixed Metal Kiku Fuchi/Kashira and Contemporary Cast Shishi Menuki from Gendai Era Original Molds.
The Saya, measuring 29 1/4 inches, has a Buffalo Horn Koiguchi, a Contemporary Cast Mixed Metal Ryu (Dragon) Kurigata
with a
Gendai Brass Handachi-style Kojiri. The Lacquer is Dappled Brown on the sides and Black on the spine and underside.
Sageo is Hand-overdyed Japanese Cotton Sanada Weave
.
The Tsuba is an extremely fine Edo Era 3 1/8 inch Circular Sukashi. MuMei (unsigned), and having been mounted more than once in the past.
The understated Floral Blossoms seating 4 Inome ( Boar's Eye, signifying Fearlessness) in the
deep, rich, coffee brown patina
makes this Tsuba particularly elegant.
