Hirokuni
Hiroki Hirokuni
Swordsmith, whose real name is Junichi Hiroki, was born on August 4, 1948 in Fukuoka Prefecture.
Strongly influenced by his father, Kunihiro Hiroki, from his childhood, he studied under Masamine Sumitani, a living national treasure.
In 1968, he received sword approval from the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
In 1973, he opened a swordsmith in Atsugi City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
In 1996, he was certified as uninspected (
mukansa
) by Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (NBTHK).
He has been researching his own ground iron and is good at
Aoe utsushi
.
He died in May 2013 at the age of 65 after exhibiting at the 4th Hamon Kyo New Japanese Sword Exhibition.
