Curiosity Piece: Tsuka with Full Leather Wrap Under Ito - 27 cm

Description

This is an interesting piece I do not know much about. It has an old wooden core that was wrapped with leather. There is no fuchi or kashira, just embossed leather. On top of it there is tsuka ito with menuki placed in an unusual way. Leather and tsuka maki are not old, most probably made in second half of 20th century.
Menuki made of shakudo with gold iroe, decorated with dragon and ken. Made in edo period.
