⫸969 Postcard Pancho Villa on Indian Motorcycle - 1914 Photo, Underwood & Underwood – NEW
Most photos of Pancho Villa depict him as a fearless revolutionary leader, mounted horseback, with a bandoleer of bullets wrapped around his chest and his trademark mustache and sombrero. This shows him astride a new 1914 Indian motorcycle at his headquarters in Juarez. He replaced his horse cavalry with Indian PowerPlus motorcycles to attack Torreon, which he successfully captured in 1914.and in the 1916 attack of Columbus, New Mexico, which brought the US into the war under General "Black Jack" Pershing. Pershing used Harley-Davidson J models, which were powered by F-head (intake over exhaust) engines and capable of speeds up to 60 miles per hour. A combination of solo motorcycles and sidecar models were ordered by the military. The sidecars models were equipped with machine guns, making them mobile gun platforms for fast attack missions.
